Dominant Hand Held

DH stands for Dominant Hand. The feature DHHeld allows us to describe more precisely how the sign is articulated. It is used when the dominant hand (‘main dominante’ in the French literature) keeps the handshape of a sign previously articulated, while a the non-dominant hand refers to a different semantic entity, interacting or not with the content from the dominant-hand. A similar process is possible conversely with a Non-Dominant Hand Held, described as the feature NDHHeld.

In this example, the proform for [CHEST] is held over the next two signs, serving as a comment to describe the type of chest present here.
