Situational Transfer
The feature ST allows us to describe better the iconic processes of LSF. This terminology was introduced by Cuxac (2000). The Situation Transfer is used to describe the spatial context or the action taking place from an external point of view. This notion doesn’t really have an equivalent outside of the LSF scientific literature. The most important elements are the hands, the body is less engaged compare to a PT. ST and PT can be used simultenously, for example depicting a situation while embodying one of the character of this situation. The transfers (personal or situational) are usually characterized by the gaze, which is much less directed to the interlocutor.
In this example, her right hand is depicting the horse and later her left hand is the fence to represent the movement from one compared to another. This scene is represented from an external point of view. In this case, the body is also very engaged which indicates the simultaneous use of a PT of the horse.
